Amar Takhar 3fc3a4f859 Convert README to MarkDown. 
GitLab has it's own flavour and I've kept that in mind.

This greatly simplifies the document as well GitLab is quite a bit more verbose
than Trac was no need to replicate information.

This is just a first revision we can expand it as necessary.

Real-Time Executive for Multiprocessing Systems

RTEMS is a real-time executive (kernel) which provides a high performance environment for embedded applications with the following features:
