1a12e548ba gas NULL casts 
This removes many unnecessary NULL casts.  I'm also adding a few arg
casts in concat calls, to make the code consistent.  Advice from quite
a few years ago was that it's better to use the exact type for args
corresponding to function ellipses, in case NULL is defined as plain
0.  (I think that happened with some early 64-bit systems.  Plain NULL
ought to be OK nowadays.)

526363dbe4 gas: generalize / tighten #APP / #NO_APP recognition 
For one '#' may not be in line_comment_chars[] in the first place. Look
for just it when it is (these "directives" are akin to C preprocessor
directives after all), but accept any other line comment character
otherwise (in read.c further requiring a match on the counterpart
"directive").

Then, when in the middle of a file, the constructs should be all on
their own on a line.  There needs to be a newline ahead of them and
after them.

Finally '\n' may not be the only end-of-line character. Accept any (but
not end-of-statement ones) in read.c, while making sure in input-file.c
there is one in the first place - merely any kind of whitespace isn't
good enough.

296597f53e gas: multi-byte warning adjustments 
First input_scrub_next_buffer()'s invocation was wrong, leading to input
only being checked from the last newline till the end of the current
buffer. Correcting the invocation, however, leads to duplicate checking
unless -f (or the #NO_APP equivalent thereof) is in effect. Move the
invocation to input_file_give_next_buffer(), to restrict it accordingly.

Then, when macros contain multi-byte characters, warning about them
again in every expansion isn't useful. Suppress such warnings from
sb_scrub_and_add_sb().

fd67aa1129 Update year range in copyright notice of binutils files 
Adds two new external authors to etc/update-copyright.py to cover
bfd/ax_tls.m4, and adds gprofng to dirs handled automatically, then
updates copyright messages as follows:

1) Update cgen/utils.scm emitted copyrights.
2) Run "etc/update-copyright.py --this-year" with an extra external
   author I haven't committed, 'Kalray SA.', to cover gas testsuite
   files (which should have their copyright message removed).
3) Build with --enable-maintainer-mode --enable-cgen-maint=yes.
4) Check out */po/*.pot which we don't update frequently.

d87bef3a7b Update year range in copyright notice of binutils files 
The newer update-copyright.py fixes file encoding too, removing cr/lf
on binutils/bfdtest2.c and ld/testsuite/ld-cygwin/exe-export.exp, and
embedded cr in binutils/testsuite/binutils-all/ar.exp string match.

633de70891 use of uninitialised value in input_file_open 
Triggered by a file containing just "#N" or "#A".  fgets when hitting
EOF before reading anything returns NULL and does not write to buf.
strchr (buf, '\n') then is reading from uninitialised memory.

	* input-file.c (input_file_open): Don't assume buf contains
	zero string terminator when fgets returns NULL.

a2c5833233 Update year range in copyright notice of binutils files 
The result of running etc/update-copyright.py --this-year, fixing all
the files whose mode is changed by the script, plus a build with
--enable-maintainer-mode --enable-cgen-maint=yes, then checking
out */po/*.pot which we don't update frequently.

The copy of cgen was with commit d1dd5fcc38ead reverted as that commit
breaks building of bfp opcodes files.
